Terpenes are aromatic compounds found in cannabis (and many other plants) that contribute to each strain's unique smell, flavor, and effects. For example, myrcene is associated with relaxation, limonene with mood elevation, and pinene with alertness. Many cannabis researchers believe terpenes work together with cannabinoids like THC and CBD to produce what's called the "entourage effect," where the whole plant delivers a more nuanced experience than any single compound alone.

Store flower in an airtight container in a cool, dark place — avoid plastic bags, which can degrade trichomes. Keep edibles in their original packaging and store them away from heat and direct sunlight. Vape cartridges should be stored upright at room temperature. All cannabis products should be kept out of reach of children and pets. Properly stored flower stays fresh for several months.

• Total Amount: You may purchase and possess up to 2.5 ounces (70.87 grams) of cannabis flower at a time.
• Concentrates: Out of that 2.5-ounce total, no more than 15 grams can be in the form of cannabis concentrate (such as resin, shatter, or wax).
• Infused Products: Edibles and other infused products are included in the 2.5-ounce limit based on a conversion formula.
• Per Transaction: The 2.5-ounce limit is per transaction. There is no specific daily limit on the number of transactions.

No. Even though cannabis is legal in Michigan, it remains illegal at the federal level. Transporting cannabis across state lines is a federal offense regardless of whether both states have legalized it. This includes driving to Ohio, Indiana, or flying out of any airport. Consume or store your products within Michigan only.

Cannabis can be consumed in private residences or on private property with the property owner's permission. Public consumption — including parks, sidewalks, restaurants, and bars — is not permitted unless the establishment holds a cannabis consumption lounge license. You also cannot consume cannabis in a motor vehicle, even as a passenger. Some Michigan cities have licensed cannabis consumption lounges — check local listings for options near you.
